Teaching Assistant
Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire
Start Date: ASAP / April 2026
Contract: Full-Time, Ongoing
Salary: £92 – £110 per day
Are you a caring, patient, and resilient individual looking to make a real difference in a specialist education setting? We are seeking a full-time Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated and supportive team at a specialist provision in Scarborough.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs, particularly those with communication and interaction difficulties.

About the Role as a Teaching Assistant:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional needs.
- Support communication development using strategies such as visual aids, PECS, or Makaton (training can be provided).
- Assist with classroom activities and adapt learning to meet individual needs.
- Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour in a calm and consistent manner.
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to provide holistic support.
- Help create a safe, engaging, and positive learning environment.
The Ideal Teaching Assistant Will Have:
- Experience working with children or young people (education, care, or support work).
- An understanding of SEN, particularly ASC and/or SLCN (desirable but not essential).
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
Candidates from care, support work, youth work, nursery, or coaching backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
