Primary Teacher
Small Group SEN Provision (Upper KS2)
Location: York
Start Date: April 2026
Contract: Full-Time, Maternity Cover
Salary: MPS/UPS
GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Primary Teacher to join a specialist provision in York, working with a small class of 6 pupils in Upper Key Stage 2 who are working at Lower KS2 and Key Stage 1 levels. About the Role:
- Deliver tailored, engaging lessons across the primary curriculum.
- Differentiate learning to meet a wide range of needs and abilities.
- Support pupils with SEMH and additional learning needs.
- Focus on core skills development, including literacy, numeracy, and communication.
- Build strong, trusting relationships to support emotional regulation and engagement.
- Work collaboratively with support staff and wider professionals.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Holds QTS with experience in a primary setting.
- Experience supporting pupils with SEN, SEMH, or additional needs.
- Confident delivering highly differentiated lessons.
- Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
- Patient, resilient, and committed to inclusive education.

This specialist provision supports pupils aged 5–16 who are unable to thrive in mainstream education due to social, emotional, and mental health needs. The primary phase offers a highly personalised curriculum, with small class sizes and a strong emphasis on building relationships, emotional wellbeing, and confidence.
