Learning Support Assistant – Year 2 (1:1 SEN Support) | Harlow
Full-Time | Immediate Start | Long-Term Opportunity

A welcoming and well-regarded primary school in Harlow is on the lookout for a Learning Support Assistant to join their Year 2 class, providing dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with additional needs.

What the Role Looks Like

You’ll be based in a lively and engaging Year 2 classroom, working closely with one pupil to help them access learning, stay focused, and feel supported throughout the school day.

You’ll be working alongside an experienced class teacher and SEN team, with plenty of guidance and support. Your role will be all about building a positive relationship, encouraging independence, and helping the child thrive both academically and socially.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 support to a pupil with SEN within a Year 2 class

  • Helping the child engage with lessons and classroom activities

  • Adapting tasks and resources to suit individual learning needs

  • Supporting confidence, communication, and social development

  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation

  • Assisting with daily routines and transitions

  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children with additional needs (SEN)

  • A patient, caring, and adaptable approach

  • Someone who can build strong, trusting relationships with children

  • Good communication and teamwork skills

  • A genuine passion for supporting children to succeed

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
