Pastoral Support Worker

Salary: £85–£120 per day (dependent on experience)

A supportive school in Middlesbrough is seeking a dedicated and resilient Pastoral Support Worker to join their team. This Pastoral Support Worker role is ideal for someone with experience supporting children or young people who may need additional emotional, behavioural or pastoral guidance throughout the school day.
The successful Pastoral Support Worker will work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to promote positive behaviour, attendance and emotional wellbeing. As a Pastoral Support Worker, you will build positive relationships with pupils, provide daily support and help create a calm and structured environment for learning.
Key Responsibilities of the Pastoral Support Worker:

Supporting pupils with their social, emotional and behavioural development.

Promoting positive behaviour and engagement across the school day.

Working closely with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.

Supporting attendance, routines and transitions throughout the day.

Liaising with teaching staff and families where appropriate.

Helping to maintain a safe, supportive and inclusive school environment.
The Ideal Pastoral Support Worker Will:

Have previous experience in a pastoral, support or behaviour-based role.

Be calm, patient and resilient in approach.

Have strong communication and de-escalation skills.

Be confident working with children or young people with varying needs.

Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply).

Have a fully checkable work history.
