SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Salary: £85–£110 per day (dependent on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-Time / Flexible
A supportive and inclusive school in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. This SEN Teaching Assistant role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs and helping them achieve their full potential.
The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers and the SENCO to support pupils with a range of needs including ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and learning barriers. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to help pupils access learning and develop confidence in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant:

Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN.

Supporting teaching and learning within the classroom.

Implementing individual education plans and targeted interventions.

Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.

Assisting with lesson preparation and adapting learning resources.

Helping to maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
The Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant Will:

Have previous experience working with children or young people with SEN.

Be patient, nurturing and adaptable in approach.

Have strong communication and teamwork skills.

Be confident supporting pupils with varying needs and abilities.

Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply).

Have a fully checkable work history.
