Job Title: Social and Emotional Mental Health needs Support Assistant
Location: Rotherham (S25)
Payrate: £100+ per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day / Long-term | Part-time / Full-time
Support pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs to feel safe, understood, and ready to engage with learning!
GSL Education are seeking a an experienced Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Support Assistant to work within a school in Rotherham (S25), providing tailored support to students who require additional emotional and behavioural guidance.
As SEMH Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils on a one-to-one and small group basis, helping them manage emotions, build resilience, and develop positive relationships within a structured and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities of SEMH Support Assistant:
- Provide targeted support to pupils with SEMH needs
- Assist in implementing behaviour and emotional support strategies
- Encourage positive behaviour and engagement with learning
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
- Work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral staff
What we are looking for:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs
- Strong communication and de-escalation skills
- A calm, patient, and consistent approach
- Understanding of safeguarding and inclusive practice
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
