Job Title:SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location:Fenham, Newcastle upon Tyne
Salary: £100 – £120 per day (depending on experience)

Are you a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant with experience supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
GSL Educationare currently seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistantto work in a Post-16 educational settingin Fenham. This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people in developing confidence, independence, and engagement in learning.
About the Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support students aged 16+who may face emotional or behavioural challenges that impact their learning. You will work closely with teaching staff to provide guidance, encouragement, and structured support to help students succeed both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities:

Support students with SEMH needsin a Post-16 learning environment

Provide 1:1 and small group supportduring lessons and activities

Help students manage behaviour and emotions in a positive way

Encourage engagement, confidence, and independence

Work collaboratively with teachers and pastoral staff

Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Requirements:
-
Experience working with SEMH, behavioural needs, or vulnerable young people

Strong communication and relationship-building skills

Calm, patient, and resilient approach to supporting learners

Ability to work effectively as part of a team

An enhanced DBS on the update serviceor willingness to apply for one
Working Hours:
-
Monday – Thursday:08:30 – 16:30

Friday:08:30 – 15:00
