SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Herne Bay, Kent
Salary: £88.94+ per day (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-time
Start Date: ASAP

Are you a compassionate, reliable, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding full-time role in Herne Bay? GSL Education Kent are seeking a motivated individual to join a friendly specialist school that provides exceptional care and personalised learning for pupils with a range of additional needs.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a consistent Monday–Friday routine and has experience supporting students with autism, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, speech and communication difficulties, and complex learning needs. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in helping to create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment where every child can grow in confidence and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support throughout the school day
• Assist pupils with communication, sensory regulation, and emotional needs
• Support behaviour using a calm, therapeutic approach
• Help the class teacher maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment
• Encourage independence, daily living skills, and active participation in learning
• Follow individual learning plans and EHCPs carefully

Requirements:

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEN (in a school or care setting)
• A patient, calm, and nurturing approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to follow safeguarding and behaviour support procedures
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
