Job description
SEN Teacher
Full-Time | Start: ASAP
Daily Rate: £195 – £270
Teaching in a complex needs setting is about much more than delivering the curriculum. It’s about building trust, creating meaningful experiences, and helping every pupil engage with the world in their own way.
We are supporting a specialist SEN school in North West London that provides education for pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and complex medical needs. Many pupils are non-verbal and benefit from highly personalised approaches to communication and learning.
The school provides a structured and nurturing environment, where learning focuses on sensory engagement, communication development, and independence. Teachers work closely with specialist support staff and therapists to ensure each pupil receives the support they need to make meaningful progress.
The role
You will be teaching a small class of pupils with complex learning needs, supported by experienced teaching assistants. Lessons are adapted to meet individual needs and often involve sensory-based learning, communication development, and practical life skills.
The school offers a calm and supportive environment where staff collaborate closely and share best practice.
What the school offers
Small class sizes with strong support from SEN teaching assistants
Access to specialist staff and multidisciplinary teams
A strong focus on pupil wellbeing, communication, and life skills
Ongoing SEND training and professional development
A supportive leadership team that values staff and encourages growth
Who this role would suit
Experienced SEN teachers, particularly those with complex needs experience
Mainstream teachers interested in moving into specialist education
Teachers who are patient, creative, and adaptable in their approach
Experience with PMLD, SLD, or sensory-based learning is beneficial but not essential. The school is keen to meet teachers who are open to learning and passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs.
