Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £460–£600 per week
Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time, Long-term / Day-to-day
Start Date: Immediately

About the Role:
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to provide tailored support, helping students manage emotions, develop independence, and succeed academically.

Responsibilities:

  • Support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs during lessons and activities
  • Work closely with teachers to implement personalised learning and behaviour strategies
  • Build trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and confidence
  • Assist with personal care and emotional regulation where required
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff

Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting students with SEMH or SEN needs is desirable
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and flexibility to adapt to student needs
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a busy school environment

  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Hold an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years
  • Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education
