English Teacher
Location: York
Salary: £32,916 – £51,048 per annum
Contract: Full Time or Part Time
Start Date: Easter 2026 or sooner
GSL Education are recruiting a resilient and committed English Teacher to work within a specialist setting supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs.
About the School
This specialist provision supports pupils who require an alternative approach to mainstream education. The school focuses on personalised learning, strong pastoral support and building positive relationships to help pupils re engage with education. Staff work closely with pupils to develop confidence, resilience and academic progress in a supportive and structured environment.
Responsibilities

Teach English across KS3 and KS4

Plan differentiated lessons to meet diverse learning needs

Support pupils with SEMH needs and behavioural challenges

Promote literacy and communication skills

Track pupil progress and provide targeted support
Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

Experience teaching in SEMH, PRU or alternative provision settings preferred

Strong behaviour management skills

Ability to build positive relationships with pupils

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
