Food Technology Teacher 

Location: Selby, North Yorkshire
Salary: £32,916 – £51,048 per annum
Contract: Full Time
Start Date: February 2026 or sooner

GSL Education are seeking an enthusiastic Food Technology Teacher to join a secondary school in Selby.

About the School

This successful secondary school offers a broad and engaging curriculum designed to equip pupils with both academic knowledge and practical life skills. The Design Technology department promotes creativity, independence and practical learning through well structured lessons and hands on experiences. Pupils are encouraged to develop confidence in cooking, nutrition and food preparation while gaining an understanding of healthy lifestyles.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Food Technology across KS3 and KS4

  • Deliver engaging practical and theory based lessons

  • Ensure safe use of kitchen equipment and maintain hygiene standards

  • Support pupils in developing cooking and nutrition knowledge

  • Prepare pupils for GCSE coursework and assessments

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching Food Technology in a UK secondary school

  • Strong subject knowledge and practical classroom management

  • Ability to engage pupils in creative and practical learning

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
