Cover Supervisor

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Salary: £90–£120 per day (dependent on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-Time / Flexible

A supportive and well-regarded secondary school in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking a confident and reliable Cover Supervisor to join their team. This Cover Supervisor role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with young people and are interested in gaining valuable classroom experience within a secondary school setting.

The successful Cover Supervisor will be responsible for delivering pre-planned lessons during the absence of the class teacher. As a Cover Supervisor, you will manage classroom behaviour, ensure pupils remain engaged with their work and maintain a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities of the Cover Supervisor:

  • Supervising classes and delivering pre-set work.

  • Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies.

  • Ensuring pupils remain on task and complete their work.

  • Providing feedback to teaching staff following lessons covered.

  • Supporting pupils with questions related to the set work.

  • Promoting a positive and safe learning environment.

The Ideal Cover Supervisor Will:

  • Have previous experience working with young people or within a school setting.

  • Be confident leading a classroom independently.

  • Have strong communication and behaviour management skills.

  • Be adaptable, proactive and professional.

  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply).

  • Have a fully checkable work history.

This Cover Supervisor role requires a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection. All successful applicants must satisfy safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.
