Science Teacher

Location: Thanet, Kent

Salary: £120 - £250 per day (Negotiable based on experience/scale)

Start date: May 2026 (Term 5)

Contract: Full-time, Long-term supply (Until 17th July 2026)

If so, then we at GSL Education Kent would love to hear from you. We are currently supporting a well-regarded and popular secondary school in Thanet in their search for a qualified Science Teacher. This is a full-time, long-term supply position starting in May 2026 and running until the end of the summer term. The selected Teacher of Science will be responsible for the full teaching cycle, including planning, marking, and student assessment, ensuring continuity for learners during this vital final stretch.

The school is a vibrant 11-16 "community school" known for its supportive atmosphere and commitment to student progress. You will join a collaborative and well-equipped department supported by experienced technicians and a dedicated leadership team.

As a Science Teacher, you will be expected to:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Carry out full teaching responsibilities, including marking and tracking student data.
  • Use practical-led teaching methods to inspire a passion for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour and create a positive learning environment.
  • Adhere to school policies on safeguarding, assessment, and curriculum delivery.

In order to be considered for this Science Teacher role, the candidate must:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognized equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Have proven experience teaching the UK Science curriculum across secondary key stages.
  • Be committed to taking on full planning and marking responsibilities for the duration of the term.
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Meet GSL’s safer recruitment background checks.
  • Have a Child Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
