Job Title: 1:1 Teaching Assistant
Location: Wakefield (WF4)
Salary: £460 – £600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

If so, GSL Education are seeking a committed and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work in schools in Wakefield (WF4).

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will provide dedicated support to an individual student who requires additional assistance to access learning and fully participate in school life. This rewarding role is ideal for someone who enjoys building strong relationships with students and making a meaningful impact on their educational journey.

Responsibilities of a 1:1 Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • Provide one-to-one support for a pupil with additional learning needs
  • Assist the student in accessing classroom activities and following lesson instructions
  • Support the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) or support strategies
  • Encourage positive behaviour and help the pupil develop social and emotional skills
  • Adapt learning materials and activities to meet the student’s individual needs
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor progress and provide feedback
  • Support the student’s wellbeing, engagement, and participation in the classroom
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

To be a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you should have:

  • Experience working with children or young people, preferably in a school or support setting
  • Understanding of supporting students with additional learning needs or SEN is desirable
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students
  • A proactive and supportive approach to learning and behaviour management
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
