Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Tonbridge
Salary: £88.94 – £95 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

Are you experienced in working with individuals who require additional support to access learning?

GSL Education are seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants (SEN TA) to support students with Special Educational Needs in schools across Tonbridge. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and SEN staff to support pupils who may require additional help with learning, communication, behaviour, or emotional development.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who have experience working with children or adults with SEN and are passionate about supporting young people to achieve their full potential. We welcome applications from candidates with relevant experience in education, healthcare, nurseries, or activity leadership, who are confident working with individuals with additional needs.

What you have to do as an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering adapted learning activities
  • Support students with social, emotional, and behavioural development
  • Help create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment
  • Encourage student engagement and participation in classroom activities
  • Assist with behaviour management in line with school policies
  • Support students with communication and interaction needs
  • Work closely with teachers and SEN staff to support individual learning plans

What we need:

  • Experience working with children or adults with SEN is essential
  • Backgrounds in healthcare, nursery work, or activity leadership will be considered
  • A patient, supportive, and enthusiastic approach to working with young people
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
