SEN Support Worker

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Salary: £90–£110 per day (dependent on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-Time / Flexible

A supportive and inclusive school in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Support Worker to join their team. This SEN Support Worker role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs and helping them reach their full potential.

The successful SEN Support Worker will work closely with teachers and the SENCO to provide tailored support to pupils with a range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH and learning difficulties. As a SEN Support Worker, you will provide 1:1 and small group support, implement EHCP targets and assist with behaviour management strategies.

Key Responsibilities of the SEN Support Worker:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN.

  • Supporting teaching and learning within the classroom.

  • Implementing individual learning and behaviour plans.

  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation.

  • Assisting with lesson preparation and adapting resources where required.

  • Helping to maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.

The Ideal SEN Support Worker Will:

  • Have previous experience working with children or young people with SEN.

  • Be patient, resilient and nurturing.

  • Have strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Be confident supporting pupils with varying needs and abilities.

  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply).

  • Have a fully checkable work history.

This SEN Support Worker role requires a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection. All successful applicants must satisfy safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.
