PMLD SEN Teaching Assistant – Kensington & Chelsea
Are you an experienced PMLD SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a full-time role in a supportive and well-resourced SEN school? This Kensington & Chelsea opportunity is ideal for someone confident supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and complex medical and physical needs, and committed to long-term school-based work.
Job Title:PMLD SEN Teaching Assistant
Location:Kensington & Chelsea
Pay:£95 – £115 per day (depending on experience)
Contract:Full-Time | Monday–Friday | Term Time Only
The Role
• Delivering specialist 1:1 PMLD support within a structured SEN classroom
• Supporting pupils with complex medical needs, physical disabilities and mobility requirements
• Providing personal care support, including manual handling where required
• Implementing EHCP targets and individual learning plans
• Leading and supporting sensory integration and sensory regulation activities
• Using Makaton, PECS, visual timetables and communication aids
• Promoting engagement, emotional regulation and independence skills
• Working closely with teachers, therapists, SENCOs and multidisciplinary teams
• Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment
Who We’re Looking For
• Proven experience as a PMLD SEN Teaching Assistant or supporting pupils with complex SEN and additional needs
• Background in SEN schools, special schools, care settings or healthcare environments
• Confident with personal care, manual handling and physical support
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
• Patient, resilient and compassionate approach
• Excellent communication, teamwork and behaviour management skills
• Committed to long-term, full-time SEN support roles
