Job Title: Science Teacher
Location: Tower Hamlets
Salary: £165 – £265 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: After Easter Break
Contract Type: Long Term Maternity Cover (potentially until the end of the academic year)

GSL Education are seeking an enthusiastic Science Teacher to work at a girl’s secondary school in Tower Hamlets from after the Easter break on a long-term maternity cover basis, potentially running until the end of the academic year.
This is an excellent opportunity for a committed practitioner who can deliver engaging Science lessons across Key Stages 3 & 4, inspire curiosity, and maintain high standards of teaching and learning. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting student attainment and ensuring continuity during the maternity cover period.
As a Science Teacher, your responsibilities will be:
- Plan and deliver high-quality Science lessons in line with the national curriculum
- Teach across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all learners, including SEND and EAL students
- Assess, monitor and track pupil progress, providing timely and constructive feedback
- Maintain strong classroom management and high expectations for behaviour
- Integrate practical experiments and hands-on learning to develop students’ scientific inquiry skills.
- Work collaboratively with the Science department to develop resources and schemes of work.
- Participate in staff meetings, parent consultations, and professional development activities.
- Support revision sessions and intervention strategies to raise attainment
- Uphold safeguarding and child protection policies at all times
- Contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular science clubs or events.
Requirements for a Teacher of Science:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or PGCE in Science or a related field.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a science discipline (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics).
- Proven experience teaching Science at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 levels
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of the UK science curriculum and assessment methods.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students of all backgrounds and abilities.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Have an updated CV and an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply via GSL Education.
