Job Title: Pastoral Support Worker - SEMH

Location: Birmingham

Pay rate: £90-£95 per day (Depending on experience)

Start Date: Immediate

Time: Hours 8.30 am – 3.30 pm – Monday to Friday.

Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are seeking a compassionate Pastoral Support Worker to join a school community in Birmingham. As a Pastoral Support Worker, you will provide guidance and support to pupils who may need additional help managing behavioural challenges, social, emotional and mental healthneeds, helping them stay engaged with education.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with emotional, social, and behavioural needs.
  • Promote positive behaviour and wellbeing across the school.
  • Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and safeguarding staff.
  • Help pupils develop confidence, resilience, and positive relationships.
  • Maintain accurate records and follow school safeguarding procedures.

Requirements of SEMH Pastoral Support Worker:

  • Experience working as a Pastoral Support Worker, SEMH Support or in a similar role.
  • Strong communication, empathy, and de-escalation skills.
  • Patient, supportive, and resilient approach.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for a new one.
