Job Title: Learning support assistant - SEMH

Location: Birmingham

Pay rate: £90-£95 per day (Depending on experience)

Start Date: Immediate

Time: Hours 8.30 am – 3.30 pm – Monday to Friday.

Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are looking a skilled Learning Support Assistant to join a school in Birmingham. As Learning Support Assistant (LSA), you will help pupils overcome learning barriers and reach their full potential by working closely with teaching staff to provide targeted classroom and one‑to‑one support to the students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, ensuring learners remain engaged, confident, and well supported throughout the school day.

Responsibilities of Learning Support Assistant (LSA):

  • Provide one-to-one and small group learning support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Assist pupils in understanding tasks and accessing the curriculum
  • Encourage positive behaviour and participation in lessons
  • Support pupils with additional learning needs where required
  • Help maintain a safe and structured learning environment

What we are looking for:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs in an educational setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, caring, and supportive approach
  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for a new one)
