Job Title: Nurture Teacher
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Salary: £150 – £220 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time | Long-term | 5 days per week
Are you a compassionate and experienced teacher looking to support secondary-aged learners who need additional academic and emotional guidance?
GSL Education are seeking a qualified Nurture Teacher to work full-time in Newcastle upon Tyne. This role is focused on secondary pupils working below age-related expectations, providing targeted support to help them build confidence, resilience, and progress in their learning.
About the Role:
As a Nurture Teacher, you will plan and deliver lessons tailored to the social, emotional, and academic needs of pupils working at lower levels. You will create a supportive and structured learning environment, working closely with pastoral and teaching teams to help learners re-engage with education and achieve their potential.
Key Responsibilities:

Deliver engaging lessons for secondary-aged learners working below expected levels

Provide 1:1 or small group support to promote academic and emotional growth

Assess and monitor pupil progress, giving constructive feedback

Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment

Collaborate with teaching and pastoral staff to support wellbeing and engagement

Uphold safeguarding, behaviour, and school policies at all times
Requirements:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential

Experience working with secondary-aged learners who are working below age-related expectations

Strong classroom management, empathy, and communication skills

Ability to adapt teaching to meet the needs of all learners

Flexible, reliable, and committed to pupil success

Must be available 5 days per week

An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one with GSL Education
