Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistants
Location: Wakefield (WF4)
Pay rate: £460 - £600 per week (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract type -Day-to-day/ Long-term, Full-time/ Part-time 

Are you a compassionate and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant looking to support young people with additional emotional and learning needs?

Schools in Wakefield (WF4) and GSL Education are searching a committed Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA) to provide academic and pastoral support to pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

In this role, you will help students stay engaged in learning, manage emotions, and build confidence in the classroom. You will work closely with teachers and pastoral teams to create a safe and supportive learning environment where pupils feel valued and understood.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with SEMH needs during lessons and group activities.
  • Help manage behaviour and promote positive emotional regulation.
  • Build trusting relationships with students to encourage participation.
  • Assist in implementing individual support and intervention plans.
  • Encourage independence and confidence in learning.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a SEMH Teaching Assistant or in a similar support role.
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
  • A patient, caring, and adaptable approach.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for a new one.
