Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant

Salary: £460 – £600 per week
Contract Type: Full time, long-term / Day-to-day

About the Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students who may experience emotional or behavioural challenges. You will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to provide tailored support, promote positive behaviour, and help students engage effectively in their learning.

Responsibilities:
• Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEMH needs, promoting engagement and emotional regulation.
• Support the implementation of personalised learning plans and behaviour strategies.
• Build positive, trusting relationships to encourage confidence and resilience.
• Assist the class teacher in delivering structured and engaging lessons.
• Help manage behaviour in line with school policies, using de-escalation techniques where appropriate.
• Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teaching staff.
• Support students during transitions and unstructured times of the school day.

Qualifications:
• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs is desirable.
• Understanding of behaviour management strategies and emotional support techniques.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm, patient, and resilient in challenging situations.
• A genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs.
