GSL Education are currently recruiting a Qualified SENCO to join a dedicated SEMH school in Halstead. This is an excellent opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping inclusive practice and supporting vulnerable learners to achieve their full potential.


About the School

This is a small, specialist SEMH school providing tailored education for pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support. With small class sizes and a strong pastoral focus, the school promotes positive relationships, personalised learning, and therapeutic approaches to behaviour and wellbeing.


The Role

As the Qualified SENCO, you will lead and coordinate SEND provision across the school, ensuring that all students receive appropriate support aligned with their EHCPs and individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage SEND provision within the school.

  • Develop, implement, and review EHCPs and individual support plans.

  • Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, parents, and external agencies.

  • Provide guidance and training to staff on inclusive and SEMH strategies.

  • Monitor student progress and ensure interventions are impactful.

  • Support safeguarding and promote a culture of inclusion and wellbeing.


Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (desirable but not essential depending on experience).

  • National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or working towards it.

  • Proven experience working within an SEMH or specialist SEN setting.

  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.

  • Thorough understanding of SEND legislation and the Code of Practice.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection (enhanced DBS required).
