Teacher of Sociology
Location: Canterbury, Kent
Salary: £120 – £250 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Full-time, Day-to-day / Long-term

As a Teacher of Sociology, you will join a humanities and social sciences faculty dedicated to fostering analytical thinking, debate, and independent research skills.
As a Sociology Teacher, you’ll be expected to:
- Plan and deliver engaging Sociology lessons in line with the curriculum.
- Teach Sociology across relevant Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, ensuring high academic standards.
- Prepare lesson materials, assess student work, and provide constructive feedback.
- Encourage critical thinking, discussion, and independent enquiry.
- Monitor student progress and implement strategies to raise attainment.
- Maintain high standards of classroom behaviour and student engagement.
- Contribute to departmental planning and wider school initiatives.
- Uphold safeguarding, curriculum, and assessment policies at all times.
To be considered for the Teacher of Sociology role, you must have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK or relevant teaching experience.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Sociology or a related social sciences field.
- Proven experience teaching Sociology in schools.
- Strong subject knowledge and the ability to deliver high-quality lessons.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- Commitment to supporting students’ academic and personal development.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Meet GSL’s safer recruitment background checks.
- Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
