Location: Newcastle
Pay rate: £95-£115 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Support staff to work in a welcoming school in Newcastle.

As a Special Education Needs (SEN) Support member, you will work closely with students who require additional assistance to access learning. You will provide tailored support, encourage confidence, and help create a structured and positive classroom environment.

Responsibilities of the SEN Support:

  • Provide Individual Support: Deliver one-to-one and small group support for students with special educational needs.
  • Follow Learning Plans: Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and adapt activities to suit students’ needs.
  • Promote Inclusion: Ensure students can fully participate in lessons alongside their peers.
  • Support Emotional Wellbeing: Build positive relationships and help students regulate emotions.
  • Assist the Class Teacher: Support with classroom activities, preparation of resources, and behaviour management.
  • Monitor Progress: Observe, record, and report on students’ academic and social development.
  • Encourage Independence: Help students build confidence and develop essential life skills.
  • Maintain Safeguarding Standards: Follow school policies to ensure a safe learning environment.

Requirements of the SEN Support:

  • Experience: Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN is desirable.
  • Patience and Empathy: A caring and understanding approach to supporting diverse needs.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Adaptability: Ability to respond positively to different learning styles and challenges.
  • Team Player: Willingness to collaborate with teachers and support staff.
  • DBS: An enhanced DBS check registered to the update service (or willingness to apply for a new one).
