About the Role:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the learning, behaviour, and personal development of students with special educational needs. You will work closely with teachers and support staff to implement lesson plans, manage classroom activities, and ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed.
Responsibilities:
- Implement personalised learning plans and support strategies tailored to the unique needs of each student.
- Create a nurturing and inclusive environment that encourages trust, engagement, and positive behaviour.
- Collaborate with teachers and multidisciplinary staff to provide comprehensive support.
- Assist with classroom activities, group work, and one-to-one interventions.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and engagement.
- Support students with personal care, hygiene, or eating where needed, ensuring dignity and respect.
- Encourage independence, social development, and motivation among learners.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational support role is preferred.
- Understanding of special educational needs and evidence-based support strategies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to the individual and dynamic needs of students.
- A patient, compassionate, and supportive approach to working with children.
