About the Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support students who may present with behavioural challenges, emotional difficulties, or additional learning needs. You will play a key role in helping pupils engage positively with their education and develop confidence and resilience.
Responsibilities:
• Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEMH needs, helping them access the curriculum and stay engaged in learning.
• Implement behaviour support strategies and personalised interventions to promote emotional regulation and positive conduct.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with students to encourage confidence, independence, and motivation.
• Support teachers in delivering structured lessons and maintaining a calm, focused classroom environment.
• Monitor and record student progress, behaviour, and well-being, providing feedback to teaching and pastoral staff.
• Promote inclusion and ensure all students feel valued, respected, and supported within the school community.
Qualifications:
• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs is desirable.
• A calm, patient, and resilient approach to supporting students with additional needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain professional and composed in challenging situations.
• A genuine passion for supporting young people to achieve their potential.
