Job Title: Health and Social Care Teacher
Location: Hackney
Salary: £40,317 – £62,496 per year (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract Type: Part Time, Permanent (Monday to Thursday)
Are you an experienced and passionate Health and Social Care Teacher looking for a part-time permanent opportunity from September 2026?
GSL Education are seeking a committed Health and Social Care Teacher to deliver high-quality teaching across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 within a secondary setting in Hackney.
This is an excellent opportunity for a knowledgeable practitioner who can inspire students pursuing vocational and academic pathways in Health and Social Care, preparing them for further education and careers within the sector.
Health and Social Care Teacher Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging Health and Social Care lessons in line with current exam board specifications
- Teach at Key Stage 3, 4 and 5, including BTEC or equivalent qualifications
- Prepare students effectively for coursework, controlled assessments and external examinations
- Assess, monitor and track student progress, providing clear and constructive feedback
- Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all learners, including SEND and EAL students
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour, achievement and attendance
- Support students with coursework completion and internal verification processes
- Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
- Participate in parents’ evenings and whole-school events (within contracted days)
- Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times
Requirements for the Health and Social Care Teacher role:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification
- Degree or specialist qualification in Health and Social Care or a related field
- Experience teaching vocational qualifications at Key Stage 3, 4 and 5
- Strong understanding of assessment and coursework requirements
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
