Job Title: Ex-Military Behaviour Support Mentor
Location: Darlington
Salary: £100 – £120 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are currently seeking dedicated Ex-Military Behaviour Support Mentors to work in schools and alternative provisions across Darlington.
This role is ideal for individuals with a strong sense of discipline, teamwork, and structure who are passionate about supporting young people, particularly those with behavioural, social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group behaviour support to students
- Act as a positive role model, promoting respect, discipline, and resilience
- Support students in managing behaviour and developing emotional regulation strategies
- Implement behaviour management plans in line with school policies
- De-escalate challenging situations calmly and effectively
- Encourage engagement in learning and participation in school life
- Monitor, record, and report on student progress and behaviour
- Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, and SEN staff
Requirements:
- Previous experience in the Armed Forces
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging behaviour
- A patient, firm, and consistent approach
- Experience working with young people is desirable but not essential
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply
