Job Title: Psychology Graduates – PRU Support Role
Location: Darlington
Salary: £100 – £120 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

Are you a Psychology graduate looking to gain hands-on experience working with young people in a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU)?

GSL Education are currently seeking motivated and resilient Psychology Graduates to support students in a PRU setting in Darlington.

This is an excellent opportunity for graduates considering careers in educational psychology, clinical psychology, social work, youth work, or teaching. You will be working with students who may present with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, behavioural challenges, or additional learning needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEMH and behavioural needs
  • Assist in delivering tailored learning programmes under the guidance of teaching staff
  • Support students in developing emotional regulation, resilience, and social skills
  • Implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policies
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement
  • Support de-escalation strategies and promote a safe learning environment
  • Monitor and record student progress, behaviour, and wellbeing
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals where required

Requirements:

  • Recent graduate with a degree in Psychology or a related field
  • Strong interest in supporting vulnerable young people
  • Resilient, patient, and adaptable approach
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with young people (school, youth work, care, or similar) is desirable
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply
