Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £460 – £600 per week
Contract Type: Full time, long-term / Day-to-day

About the Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support students who may experience barriers to learning due to social, emotional, or behavioural challenges. You will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to provide targeted support, promote positive behaviour, and encourage engagement in learning.

Responsibilities:
• Support students with SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, promoting emotional regulation and positive engagement.
• Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored lessons and differentiated activities.
• Implement behaviour management strategies and follow individual support plans.
• Build positive and professional relationships to foster trust and confidence.
• Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and senior staff.
• Encourage independence, resilience, and social development within the classroom setting.

Qualifications:
• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is desirable.
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
• A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting students.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• A genuine passion for helping students overcome barriers to learning.
