Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield (S2, S3)
Pay rate: £460 - £600 per week (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

Provide consistent, compassionate support to students who require additional help managing their social, emotional, and mental health needs!

GSL Education are recruiting an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant to work in schools across Sheffield, covering the S2 and S3 areas.

The Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA) will support students who may experience behavioural or emotional challenges, helping them engage positively with learning and school life.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Offer 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs.
  • Assist in implementing behaviour support plans and intervention strategies.
  • Promote emotional regulation and positive coping strategies.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to adapt activities where required.
  • Maintain safeguarding standards and follow school policies at all times.

Requirements of SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs.
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and student wellbeing.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
