Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Stockton-on-Tees
Salary: £90 – £115 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time  | Long-term & Day-to-day

Are you a supportive and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant looking to make a positive difference in the classroom?

GSL Education are currently recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to work in primary schools across Stockton-on-Tees. Our client school is a growing and well-regarded Academy with strong support from parents and the local community. Recently graded Good by Ofsted, the school is also entering an exciting phase with the redevelopment into a new purpose-built Academy. We are recruiting a motivated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils across the full curriculum within a primary-style model. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about special education, looking to join a supportive team and make a meaningful impact in a varied and dynamic setting.

About the Role:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to support pupils in the classroom, helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. You may provide 1:1 support, small group assistance, or general classroom support depending on the needs of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teaching and learning in the classroom

  • Work with pupils 1:1 or in small groups

  • Assist with lesson preparation and classroom organisation

  • Help pupils stay engaged, focused, and motivated

  • Support pupils with additional learning or behavioural needs

  • Promote positive behaviour and inclusion

  • Uphold safeguarding and school policies at all times

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people (desirable)

  • A positive, patient, and proactive attitude

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Ability to adapt to different classroom environments

  • Commitment to supporting pupil progress and wellbeing

  • No formal teaching qualification required

  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one with GSL Education
