SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Dartford, Kent
Salary: £88.94+ per day (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-time
Start Date: ASAP

This position is perfect for someone who excels in a consistent Monday–Friday schedule and is skilled in supporting students with autism, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, speech and communication difficulties, and complex learning requirements. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where every child is encouraged to thrive and achieve their personal best.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and support teams to guide pupils through their educational and emotional development. You’ll play a key role in their daily routines, independence, confidence, and communication.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support across the school day
  • Assist pupils with communication, sensory regulation, and emotional needs
  • Support behaviour in a calm, therapeutic manner
  • Help the class teacher maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment
  • Promote independence, daily living skills, and pupil engagement
  • Follow individual learning plans and EHCPs carefully

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN (school or care setting)
  • A patient, calm, and nurturing approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to follow safeguarding and behaviour support procedures
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
