Job Title: Ex-Military Outdoor Pursuits Mentor
Location: Middlesbrough
Salary: £130 – £150 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time | Part-time | Long-term / Temp-to-Perm

About the Role:
As an Outdoor Pursuits Mentor, you will plan and deliver engaging outdoor activities, promote teamwork, and support pupils in developing life skills. You will act as a positive role model, helping young people overcome challenges, build confidence, and develop resilience in a safe and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Plan and lead outdoor learning sessions, adventure activities, and team-building exercises

Mentor and support young people in developing confidence, resilience, and personal skills

Build positive relationships and act as a role model for pupils

Promote inclusion, wellbeing, and safe participation in all activities

Work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to support behaviour and engagement

Maintain health, safety, and safeguarding standards at all times
Requirements:
-
Ex-military experience (Army, Navy, RAF or equivalent)

Experience leading groups or mentoring young people

Passion for outdoor education and adventure activities

Strong communication, leadership, and behaviour management skills

Ability to motivate and inspire young people

Flexible, reliable, and proactive approach

An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one with GSL Education
