About the Role:
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to implement strategies that help students engage with learning, manage behaviour, and develop essential skills. You will provide hands-on support and contribute to a positive, structured classroom environment.
Responsibilities:
- Implement personalised learning plans and support strategies tailored to individual student needs.
- Create a supportive, inclusive environment that encourages trust, engagement, and growth.
- Assist students with social, emotional, and behavioural development.
- Collaborate with teachers and multidisciplinary staff to ensure comprehensive support.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and activities.
- Support students during activities to maximise participation and learning.
- Encourage positive behaviour and independence in line with school policies.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, SEMH Support Worker, or similar role is preferred.
- Understanding of social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs and strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to the dynamic needs of students.
- A patient, compassionate, and supportive approach to student care and learning.
