Job Title: Learning Support Assistant – Secondary Focus
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £460 – £600 per week
Contract Type: Full time, long-term / Day-to-day

About the Role:
As a Learning Support Assistant with a secondary focus, you will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to provide targeted support to students across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will assist learners who may require additional academic or emotional support, ensuring they remain engaged and confident within the classroom environment.

Responsibilities:
• Provide in-class support to students across a range of secondary subjects, ensuring they can access the curriculum effectively.
• Deliver small group or one-to-one interventions to support academic progress and close learning gaps.
• Support students with additional learning needs, including SEN, SEMH, or literacy and numeracy challenges.
• Promote positive behaviour and reinforce the school’s behaviour management policies.
• Assist teachers in preparing resources and adapting materials to suit individual learning needs.
• Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teaching staff and SENCO where appropriate.
• Foster a supportive, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment.

Qualifications:
• Previous experience working with secondary-aged students is desirable.
• Experience supporting students with additional learning needs is advantageous.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
• Patient, adaptable, and committed to supporting young people’s development.
