Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant

Salary: £460 – £600 per week
Contract Type: Full time, long-term / Day-to-day

About the Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students who require additional emotional and behavioural guidance. You will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to implement targeted interventions, promote positive behaviour, and support learning within the classroom and through small group sessions.

Responsibilities:
• Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEMH needs, helping them engage with learning activities.
• Support the implementation of behaviour management strategies and personalised support plans.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with students to encourage emotional regulation and confidence.
• Assist teachers in delivering structured lessons and adapting resources to meet individual needs.
• Monitor and record student progress, behaviour, and well-being.
• Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment at all times.

Qualifications:
• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is desirable.
• Strong understanding of behaviour management and de-escalation techniques.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm, patient, and resilient in challenging situations.
• A proactive and compassionate approach to supporting students.
