Pastoral Care Officer (Mainstream School)
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Salary: £150 per day

A vibrant and forward-thinking mainstream school in Newcastle are looking to appoint a resilient and compassionate Pastoral Care Officer to join their supportive team. This Pastoral Care Officer role will focus on promoting positive behaviour, supporting pupil wellbeing, and ensuring students are able to fully access their education in a safe and structured environment.
The successful Pastoral Care Officer will play a key role in managing behaviour, improving attendance, and providing emotional support to pupils across the school. Key Responsibilities of the Pastoral Care Officer:

Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with pupils.

Provide daily pastoral support addressing social, emotional, and behavioural needs.

Promote safeguarding, welfare, and emotional wellbeing at all times.

Support pupils who may present with behavioural challenges.

Supervise pupils during breaktimes and lunchtimes where required.

Act as part of an on-call pastoral support system throughout the school day.

Liaise with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and parents/carers.

Support learner transitions and promote positive attendance strategies.

Help maintain a safe, secure, and inclusive learning environment.
Requirements for the Pastoral Care Officer:

Previous experience working in a pastoral, behaviour support, or similar school-based role.

Proven ability to manage behaviour effectively and calmly.

Strong communication and de-escalation skills.

Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).

Right to work in the UK.
