Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Rotherham S25
Salary: £460–£600 per week
Contract Type: Full time, long-term / Day-to-day

About the Role:
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide targeted assistance to students who require additional emotional and behavioural support. You will play a key role in helping learners engage with education, develop coping strategies, and build confidence both inside and outside the classroom.

Responsibilities:
• Support students with SEMH needs in both one-to-one and small group settings, promoting engagement and positive participation.
• Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored lessons and structured activities.
• Implement behaviour support strategies and interventions in line with individual plans.
• Help create a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
• Encourage the development of social skills, emotional resilience, and independence.
• Monitor and record student progress, behaviour, and well-being.
• Collaborate with teaching staff and external professionals to ensure consistent support.

Qualifications:
• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs is desirable.
• Understanding of behaviour management strategies and emotional regulation techniques.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm, patient, and resilient in challenging situations.
• A genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs.
