Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistants
Location: Wakefield (WF4)
Pay rate: £460 - £600 per week (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract type -Day-to-day/ Long-term, Full-time/ Part-time

GSL Education are seeking compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistants to work in schools across Wakefield (WF4), providing tailored support to pupils who require additional guidance to engage with learning and manage their emotions.

As Social, Emotional and Mental Health Teaching Assistants (SEMH TA), you will work closely with pupils to help them develop resilience, positive behaviour, and confidence in the classroom.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support as SEMH Teaching Assistants.
  • Implement strategies to support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development.
  • Encourage engagement and participation in lessons.
  • Collaborate with teachers and pastoral teams.

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
