Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: York
Pay Rate: £88 – £110 per day
Contract: Full Time
Start Date: April 2026 or sooner
GSL Education are seeking an experienced Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a specialist primary provision in the York area.
About the School
This specialist setting supports primary-aged pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs. The school focuses on emotional regulation, positive behaviour strategies and creating a safe and structured learning environment where pupils can rebuild confidence and re-engage with education.
Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group SEMH support

Support emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies

Implement behaviour support plans

Build positive and consistent relationships with pupils

Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to promote engagement
Requirements

Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs

Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills

Calm, resilient and consistent approach

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
