English Teacher (SEMH) 

Location: York area
Salary: £32,916 – £51,048 per annum 
Start Date: Easter 2026
Type: Fulltime/Part-time

GSL Education are seeking an experienced English Teacher to join a specialist SEMH provision in the York area from Easter 2026. Full time and part time applications are welcome.

About the School

This alternative provision supports secondary pupils with SEMH needs who require a personalised and structured approach to learning. The setting focuses on rebuilding confidence, promoting positive relationships and re-engaging pupils with education through smaller class sizes and consistent routines.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver English lessons across KS3 and KS4

  • Adapt teaching to meet SEMH needs

  • Plan differentiated and engaging lessons

  • Support pupils working towards GCSE qualifications

  • Promote positive behaviour and engagement

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Proven experience teaching pupils with SEMH needs

  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills

  • Ability to build positive relationships
