Job Title: Behaviour Support Assistant
Location: Middlesbrough
Salary: £90 - £115 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term | Part-time / Full-time

GSL Education are working closely with a supportive and inclusive school in Middlesbrough to recruit a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant. This role is perfect for individuals who are patient, resilient, and passionate about helping young people overcome behavioural barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities of a Behaviour Support Assistant:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils presenting challenging behaviours
  • Implement behaviour management strategies to keep students engaged and safe
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Support class teachers with behaviour plans and tailored interventions
  • Monitor, record, and report on student behaviour and progress

Requirements for a Behaviour Support Assistant:

  • Experience supporting children/young people with behavioural needs, SEMH, or SEND
  • Ability to remain calm, confident, and consistent under pressure
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and behaviour de-escalation
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Relevant qualifications (experience in youth work, psychology, or similar fields is advantageous)
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
