Support Learners in Middlesbrough as an SEN Teaching Assistant – Make a Real Difference
Location: Middlesbrough
Salary: £90 - £115 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term | Part-time / Full-time

GSL Education are seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a supportive and inclusive school in Middlesbrough. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children with Special Educational Needs thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

About the Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to support pupils with a range of additional needs. You will help create a positive, encouraging environment where learners feel safe, confident, and ready to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities of SEN Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN
  • Assist in delivering tailored learning activities and interventions
  • Help maintain an inclusive and nurturing classroom environment
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, behaviour, and wellbeing
  • Support pupils with EHCPs and ensure individual needs are met

Requirements for SEN Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN
  • Understanding of differentiated learning and support strategies
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
  • Patience, empathy, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
