Salary: £460–£600 per week

About the Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support students both inside and outside the classroom, helping them manage emotions, engage with learning, and develop social skills. You will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to implement strategies that encourage positive behaviour and academic progress.
Responsibilities:
• Support students with SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, promoting engagement and positive participation in lessons.
• Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities that meet individual education plans (IEPs).
• Implement behaviour support strategies to help students regulate emotions and build resilience.
• Create a safe, structured, and encouraging learning environment.
• Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teaching staff and SENCO.
• Build strong, trusting relationships to support students’ social and emotional development.
Qualifications:
• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs is desirable.
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to remain calm, patient, and consistent in challenging situations.
• A genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs.
