About the Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs, both inside and outside the classroom. You will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to implement targeted strategies that support engagement, emotional regulation, and academic progress.
Responsibilities:
• Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs, helping them access learning effectively.
• Implement behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques in line with school policy.
• Build positive and consistent relationships to support emotional well-being and resilience.
• Assist the class teacher in adapting resources and activities to meet individual learning needs.
• Monitor and record student progress, behaviour, and engagement accurately.
• Promote a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment at all times.
Qualifications:
• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs is desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm, patient, and consistent in challenging situations.
• A proactive and flexible approach to supporting students.
• A genuine passion for making a difference in young people’s lives.
