SEMH Teaching Assistant

Location: Selby
Pay Rate: £88 – £110 per day
Contract: Full-Time
Start Date: February 2026 or sooner

GSL Education are recruiting an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a secondary provision in the Selby area. This role is suited to individuals confident in managing behaviour and supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs.

About the School

The setting supports secondary-aged pupils who require a structured and nurturing learning environment. Many pupils have experienced barriers within mainstream education and benefit from smaller classes, consistent routines and strong adult relationships.

SEMH Teaching Assistant Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group SEMH support

  • Support emotional regulation and behaviour management

  • Implement behaviour and support plans

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils

  • Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff

Requirements

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs

  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills

  • Calm, resilient and consistent approach

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
